LEO XU PROJECTS is very pleased to announce our art fair debut at SH Contemporary 2012, running from September 7th to 9th 2012, with a professional preview and opening vernissage on the 6th.
At booth M02, in the Main Hall, LEO XU PROJECTS will feature works by Cui Jie, Chen Wei, Cheng Ran, Guo Hongwei, Gabriel Lester, Li Qing, Li Shurui, Michael Lin, and Liu Chuang.
The booth’s centerpieces include a fine selection of color photographs produced by Chen Wei, between 2007 and 2012, that follow his recent critically acclaimed solo exhibition at the gallery. Also on display will be a set of Cui Jie’s new paintings that explores cityscape and architectural structures. Guo Hongwei will feature a new suite of watercolors from his series that depicts a collection of specimens.
Of particular note will be Gabriel Lester’s commissioned architectural sculpture. Having evolved from his site-specific installation ‘Behind the Scene’ (2005), Lester’s work revisits his signature repertoire that extends the cinematographic syllable into an architectural composition. This gives spectators an opportunity to experience a cinematic sense of suspense towards space complimented with a feeling of uncertainty. Lester represents this theme in his installation dOCUMENTA (13). Other highlights include a special presentation of Cheng Ran’s latest videos and short-films and recent paintings by Li Qing and Li Shurui.
We are also delighted to be exhibiting new prints by Michael Lin and Liu Chuang’s conceptual project ‘Untitled Album’ which is derived from his internationally exhibited series ‘Buying Everything on You’. Latest works of both artists will be on view in their solo shows with the gallery.
We look forward to greeting you at the fair!
